Activity Overview
Art and nature is combined in the one-of-a-kind Besthoff Sculpture Garden. More than 60 beautiful sculptures are set in a winding path, enveloped by lush scenery of oaks and magnolia trees. Located adjacent to the New Orleans Museum of Art, a trip to the Sculpture Garden is a perfect way to wind down the day. Both tourists and residents agree that this place is New Orleans' best-kept secret.
Things to Do
- Visit the Sculpture Garden on a warm afternoon and be amazed with each piece of art. Some of the sculptures include people sitting on the bench, bronze statues of walking men, and an upside-down man. Remember to pay attention as some of the pieces are small and could easily be missed.
- The well-maintained garden too is a work of art itself with plenty of looming trees, a lagoon, and a 200-year old oak tree laden with Spanish moss. Make sure to bring out your cameras and take good photos.
- Bring snacks and go for a picnic. There's also a little cafe so you can grab food and drinks.
- Take a book, go for a quiet walk, or just spend time alone with nature.
- Explore the museum and other areas of the park.
