Dedicated to protecting and conserving the animals in their care while educating the public on the proper treatment of animals the Toledo Zoo is one of the area's finest attractions. This along with the fact that they have a large and varied animal population goes a good way to explaining why they were named as the number 1 zoo in the United States by U.S.A Today in 2014. Here you can see animals from all over the world including snow leopards, orangutans, salamanders, polar bears, tortoise and many more.
Things to Do
- There are so many great exhibits to choose from at the Zoo that it is difficult to know where to begin! When you walk in the main entrance you could start by checking out the Arctic Encounter or head straight for the elephants and giraffes of the Africa! exhibit.
- Cross into the South Side of the park and you will come across exhibits housing great apes, flamingos, cheetah, various reptiles and far more besides.
- The Toledo Zoo runs educational programs for children of various ages from pre-schoolers right through the teenage years. They can facilitate regular school groups as well as home schoolers; other private group activities can also be arranged. They run their own pre school for ages 3 and 4 and also provide family programs and kid's camps at various stages of the year.
