Activity Overview

Washington Park is one of the most visited parks in Portland, it is a beautiful, well-maintained, and clean park, a popular place to visit for the families, as it contains many play areas for children and zoos. It is a public urban park that offers many amenities and attractions, it includes a zoo, forestry museum, a children's museum, rose garden, Japanese garden, amphitheater, tennis courts, soccer fields, children's play areas, picnic areas and trails for hiking.

Things to Do

  • Portland's children museum offers interactive exhibits for the kids, and it's not your traditional museum. Children can get to touch and explore stuff, and the museum hosts many events exclusively for the children. The museum features many indoor activities and outdoor adventures, including the clay studio, Zany maze, Building bridge town, pet hospital, and so much more.
  • The 64-acre of Oregon zoo is home to more than 1,900 animals, plus 1,000 species of exotic plants that thrive in the zoo's botanical gardens. A wide variety of animals include, Asian elephants, Tigers, rhinoceros, black-howler monkey, cheetah, chimpanzee, cougar, penguins, Lion, polar bear, and many fishes and birds.
  • The beautiful Rose garden at the park lets you explore the beauty of nature, the rose test garden includes a rose garden, a fountain, a gift shop, walking paths, and statues. An award winning rose garden, where a variety of rose species thrive and flourish.
  • The stunning Japanese garden embodies peace, harmony and nature, constructed in typical Japanese architecture, the garden includes the antique gate, pavilion, tea house, moon bridge, and zigzag bridge. Visit in late February to view cherry blossoms.
  • The world forestry center and museum highlights and educates about the importance of forests and the impact on our environment. Different hands-on and interactive exhibits are meant to invoke curiosity in children.
  • Hike through hundreds of miles of trails that originate from the park, ride the Washington park and zoo railway that travels from the zoo to the rose garden. The amphitheater hosts many concerts in the summer. Play areas are designed for children to play around and enjoy outdoor activities.
  • Oregon Zoo houses a variety of cafes, including, Cascade Grill, Afri cafe, Bear walk cafe and black rhino hut.
