The Western Pennsylvania Miniature Railroad Museum is a must see destination for model train engineers young and old. For a passion that transcends generations the Museum has interactive displays and an impressive train display that all ages can enjoy. They house a library which contains plenty of references and resources for research into the history of railroads in Pennsylvania and for you to dig deeper into your favorite hobby.
Things to Do
- The interactive displays for kids allow little ones to control trains including Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends. Apart from racing these beloved cartoon characters around the course they can also learn all about trains and the rules of the road.
- Don't miss the Museum's annual holiday show which takes place on weekends from early November to early January. Friday nights sees their Steam at Twilight event take place. Here they turn back the clocks on their large train display to a fall evening in 1949.
- You can learn about this time when new trains were coming in and the country was getting back on its feet again after the horrors of World War II.
