Activity Overview
Works by top quality artists in a number of forms are awaiting discovery at the Wiford Gallery & Wind Sculpture Garden. This gallery has a decidedly diverse range of artworks many of which are kept in their regular indoors gallery. However outside their doors is something even more special, a wind sculpture gallery situated in a well-kept garden. Here you see chimes artworks be moved by the wind and create noises as they do so. It makes for an excellent place to sit and think to one's self or to recuperate during a long day's sightseeing.
Things to Do
- Many of the wind sculptures in the Garden are designed by the artist Lyman Whitaker. In his work he aims to represent his pre-occupations about humanity's relationship with the earth. When one sits and watches his sculptures moving with the wind it inspires thoughts about how we live with our world.
- The sculptures themselves are extremely varied in terms of shape and size. However they all have a certain beauty and are all finished with the same degree of engineering finesse.
- Take some time to walk through the garden and appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship on display.
