Activity Overview
The Witte Museum in San Antonio, Texas combines natural history, Texas history, and science into one amazing experience. Study dinosaur bones before visiting a live snake display, then move into the brand new South Texas Heritage Center where you can see artifacts and exhibitions on old Texas history, including saddles, spurs, weapons, textiles, art, and photographs dating back to the cowboy days. The Witte Museum uses the latest in museum technology to bring to life the real-life stories of Texas settlers and their families.
The museum hosts a rotating array of some of the country's most acclaimed scientific and historical exhibitions. Check their website to make sure your favorite display is still available. Past exhibits included mummies from around the world, a CSI experience based on the television series, and a fairytale display with old gowns and dresswear inspired by our favorite fairytales and magical stories.

- HEB Body Adventure: Choose an interactive e-buddy to take you through each of the interactive exhibits in this four-story body adventure; Learn about healthy food, fitness goals, and how the human body works
- Backyard Log Cabins: Step outside the museum and back in time to visit some historical homes and school houses from the first days of Texas settlement
Witte Museum Insider Tips
- Some of the rotating exhibits cost an extra fee, including their new Grossology exhibit. You can purchase this admission online or at the door.
- Dress appropriately with comfortable, closed-toed shoes. The Science Treehouse involves four-stories of climbing, and there is also a rock-climbing wall, so you will want to be properly dressed in order to fully experience the Witte exhibitions.
