The Worcester Art Museum (WAM) features over 35,000 art houses that are representing different cultures from all over the world. The WAM opened in 1898 in Worcester, Massachusetts and the second largest art museum in New England. It features a café, museum shop, and library. The Museum has a devoted gallery for exhibition of a strong collection of modern and contemporary art.
Things to Do
This museum is like a little Boston Museum of Fine Arts. They feature single or double examples of many of the masters of art across 4 floors and a basement.
Upon entering, you are in a very large and beautiful Renaissance court. Turn a corner and you find youself in the Middle Ages. It was fun to explore the numerous galleries and see examples of art including Roman, Egyptian, Asian, Medieval, and Greek.
The exhibit of Knights!, armor & weapons, that are so spectacular, that includes family friendly items for the kids to explore. The Knights! exhibit features the extensive armor collection that was once displayed at the Higgins Armory Museum.
Visit the Renaissance Court and the Roman mosaics as well as the medieval French chapel.
There are some very good restaurants nearby, and the cafe in the Museum is very good too.
