Activity Overview
Play the game of Word Blast for some quick thinking fun and lots of laughs. The game sounds super easy until you are on the spot and the letters available to pick from to form your words are limited. This game is a level playing field for most school aged children through adults. The room will be filled laughter and leave you in awe at some of the innovative answers that other players come up with.
Materials Needed
- A piece of paper and a pencil
- A timer
How to Play
- Write the alphabet in capital letters on a piece of paper with the letters spaced so that they are easily visible.
- Write some topics on a piece of paper and tear into strips. Some ideas for topics include things like things you find in the Spring, states, baseball mascots, nail polish colors, player's choice, pizza toppings, ice cream flavors and more.
- At the begin with a topic, a new alphabet list, and the timer.
- Set the timer for 1 minutes and 30 seconds.
- Each person tries to answer with one word that matches the topic and begins with a letter from the alphabet that is unique to that round.
- After a word is used with a particular letter, the player who used that letter crosses it out and passes the pencil. The next player does the same and then the next until as many letters are used as possible in a round. Try to go as quickly as you can.
