Activity Overview
World's Fair Park hosts several events in the city of Knoxville in Tennessee, significant events are Earth fest and Greek fest. The park was the site of a successful world fair that was held in 1982, nations around the world participated in the fair and it drew millions of visitors. The opening theme of the fair was "energy turns the world", world's fair lasted for six months. The park is now a state-of-the-art urban oasis that still incorporates major landmarks from the 1982 world's fair. The park has a beautiful landscape with many native plants, significant events are held at the park including the July 4th fireworks. The park is open everyday until midnight.
Things to Do
- The park features wonderful attractions that are suitable for the whole family, acres of lawns, waterfalls, streams, and some of the unique water features are a beautiful sight to see.
- The grounds and lawns are used for performances, concerts and parties. Lawns can be used for picnicking.
- See a variety of beautiful plants in the park, including dogwood, azalea and Rhododendron.
- Children can play at the court of flags fountains during the summer. Birthday parties can also be held at the fountains.
- Plenty of paved walkways are on site for walking, strolling or running, handicapped accessible walkways can be found throughout the park.
- The observation deck at the Sunsphere gives gorgeous views of the world's fair park, downtown Knoxville, and the Tennessee river.
- For dining you can visit the Icon Ultra lounge restaurant at the 5th level of the Sunsphere.
