Activity Overview
If you are looking for a fun and engaging quiet time activity, pull out a sheet of sandpaper and some yarn and start creating. The sandpaper acts as a canvas of sorts and the rough surface makes an ideal surface for the texture of the yarn to adhere to.
Toddlers will adore making shapes, objects, letters, numbers and more. This activity can easily be pulled out at home and also makes a fantastic take along activity or addition to a busy bag. Consider bringing these two materials to restaurants and waiting rooms or even in the car.

How to Play
- Lay a piece of sandpaper flat on the table.
- Cut several segments of scrap yarn in different lengths and colors.
- Arrange the yarn on the sandpaper in designs, faces, objects, letters and more. The yarn will stick to the sandpaper and stay in place unless you move it.
- When you are finished, clear the sandpaper of yarn and start all over again.
