Activity Overview

Zion National Park is one of the most popular nature attractions in Utah. Its most famous feature is Zion Canyon, a gorgeous 15-mile canyon that was created by the Virgin River. Visitors to this scenic National Park can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities, including bird watching, easy hiking, cycling, backpacking, camping, rock climbing, and boating down the Virgin River.

There are also various ranger-led programs that visitors can participate in, including shuttle tours, nature center youth programs, and ranger walks.

Things to Do

• Go on the unique hike through The Narrows, the narrowest part of Zion Canyon! You'll have to get your feet wet, so summer is the best time to do this hike.
• Pick up a bird checklist from the visitor center and see how many bird species you can find!
• Enjoy the park's scenic vistas by going on a family hike along one of the many wilderness trails.
• Take part in one of the many ranger-led programs on offer, including informative talks and walks that focus on topics such as geology, wildlife, and history.

Zion National Park Insider Tips

• If you want to see as much of the park as you can, consider camping there for an entire weekend! There are three campgrounds within the park with amenities that include restrooms and drinkable water.
• The easiest way to visit the park for the day is by parking in the nearby town of Springdale and taking the free shuttle bus into the park. You can learn more about the shuttle system here.
